Tips On Coloring Your Natural Hair

These tips are from experiences I learned when dying my natural hair.

It’s safe when it comes to dying your hair. You just have to make sure you follow the directions right. If you never dyed your hair before I would go to a professional stylist to get it done. Coloring your hair won’t change your natural textures.

For those that are comfortable dying your own hair and it’s your first time coloring your hair. I would start with temporary dye that has no ammonia and no peroxide, that way it will get you used to coloring your hair. Since the dye is temporary, you would be able to determine if you ever wanted to do it again and it will only last a short time.

Taking care of color treated hair

·        Once a week make sure you deep condition your hair. 

·        Every two days oil your scalp.

·        Drink plenty of water.

·        Use an everyday hair product that will keep your hair moisturized.

The main thing is keeping your hair moisturized. With any chemical you don’t want your hair to dry out, because that will cause breakage.

When you buy hair color, it always tells you to color your hair every 4-6 week to touch it up. For me that is too soon. I color my hair every 3 months or when a lot of my natural hair color is              showing.                                                                                              

My favorite hair color product is “Crème of Nature” and “Clairol Textures and Tones for Women of Color”.

Have You Ever Considered Dyeing Your Hair?

Ginny's Twist-Out

When I first did my two strand twist, I used hair grease on my hair only.  I kept them in my hair for two weeks. Then I decided to do a twist-out.

How I maintain my twist-out

•    Every day before I shower I put any kind of oil in my hair
•    Always wear a shower cap, causing the oil to work its way in
•    Wear a scarf on my hair when I go to bed
•    That’s it!

This style will last about another week or so. 

Ice Cream: Made With Bananas Only

Step by Step Instructions for One Ingredient Ice Cream

Creamy ice cream from just one ingredient.

Freeze the banana pieces for at least 

an hour or two.

Blend on high. Initially they will look

crumbly and piecemeal.

The mixture will probably get stuck a 

lot. Keep scraping down the bowl.

                                                                                                         

Suddenly, as you keep blending, you
will see a change. The bananas turn
creamy! Now is the time to add a
scoop of peanut butter or anything
else you care to mix in.

The ice cream will be the texture if soft
serve, but if you freeze again in an airtight
container, it will get harder and more
like ice cream.

How to make 1-ingredient ice cream…

1.Peel your bananas first.
2.Cut them into small pieces.
3.Freeze for just 1-2 hours on a plate.
4.Blend, blend, blend – scraping down the bowl when they stick.
Enjoy the magic moment when they turn into ice cream!

Potato Veggie Burgers

 

I wanted to start making my own veggie burgers, instead of buying them in stores. That way I know exactly what’s in them. I found this recipe and wanted to try it out. It came out really good and taste great.

 

 

Ingredients:

• 1 cup canned black beans
• 1 carrot, grated
• 1/2 onion, diced
• 3 potatoes, grated
• 4 scallions, chopped
• 1 cup corn
• salt and pepper to taste
• oil for frying

Preparation:

Mash the beans with a fork or a potato masher. Add the remaining ingredients, except the oil and mix until well combined. Shape the mixture into patties. Heat about two tablespoons of olive oil and cook each patty until the veggie burgers are done, about 3 minutes on each side.

My Favorite Wash "N" Go Products

I’m a big fan of wash “n” go's. Sometimes I don’t feel like spending hours styling my hair. So I do the fastest thing and wash my hair and use my favorite wash “n” go products. Get the definition I want for my kinky-coily hair. My style last for a week and I co-wash it mid-week to refresh my curls.  I always deep condition my hair when I do a wash “n” go.

Wal-Mart Supporting Naturals!!!!

Sunday my mom and I went in to Wal-Mart to do some grocery shopping. When we entered the store there was a woman seating at a table and ask us if we want to sign up and get free natural hair product samples. My mom was like yeah, so she sign both of us up and the lady handed us both raffle tickets. At a certain time we went to natural hair aisle. There were a few ladies taking about natural hair products and any question you wanted to ask them. I thought this was really cool for Wal-Mart to support us naturals. When we were ready to leave we turned in our raffle tickets and she handed us both a big Wal-Mart bag with samples. When we got into the car I started going through my bag to check out the stuff. I couldn’t believe how much samples there were in the bag. Also two tee shirts.  I am really please with Wal-Mart. They always been my favorite store, but now I really salute them.
